Dark Mode UI Theme

Dark Mode UI Theme

Postby tdnl46w » Fri Jun 17, 2022 9:37 am

Hi stan.

Would it be possible to add the dark mode and other "Look and Feel" themes that the current version of NetBeans has?

Thanks.

Here is an example screenshot to show what a possible dark mode UI could look like. If anyone else is interested in a dark mode in EL, feel free to add to the request.

Well, Expert Lotto is based on Netbeans IDE which does have support for various dark themes, see e.g. https://www.formdev.com/flatlaf/screenshots/
Anyone else would appreciate dark colors in Expert Lotto?

Expert Lotto still needs a proper dark mode,...but in case anyone wants to try the inverted window colors from the image in my last reply, here's how to set it up.

- Open the Windows Start Menu and type; "color filters"(without quotes) and press enter. The Color Filters settings window should open.
- Toggle the button that says: "Turn on color filters" to On.
- Then check mark; "Allow the shortcut key to toggle filter on or off".
- Last, enable the button that says: "Inverted(reverse colors on the display)".

Now you can use the shortcut keys; Windows logo key + Ctrl + C to toggle the inverted display, which might be easier on the eyes with some monitors.

Thank you very much tdnl46w! I think a dark interface is great, I'm going to try the configuration like that.

Hi rol24. Np, I hope it helps. :)

The Windows color filters option is just a workaround, and I hope some of the dark theme screenshots in Stan's reply link above can be implemented in the program.

I have added dark mode support in today's dev build update (of version 5.12).

Hi Stan.

Thank you very much for adding/testing the new dark/light themes. I have a widescreen monitor, and programs with an all white background are difficult to use for extended periods of time without adjusting monitor brightness.

There may be some compatibility issues with the new themes though. Some charts and My Estimates hint window fonts are very hard to read in dark modes. In the Winning Numbers and Package tables the cells are bigger or stretched by 3x. I'm not sure if these are a program or theme issue(s).

Hi Stan, ui can´t find the option to change the interface to dark mode TOOLS -> OPTIONS -> APPEARANCE,
or do you have to do it using the method through windows?,
thank you very much.

Are you really running the latest version 5.12? If so then check for application updates.
