Pick 3 EL5 Video

Pick 3 EL5 Video

Postby winsumloosesum » Wed Jan 04, 2012 1:06 am

I wanted to try this little experiment with the Pennsylvania Pick 3 evening drawings.
Pennsylvania Pick 3 has both a Midday and Evening drawing. I wanted to use just the evening drawings with this experiment.
The goal really is to filter using the "Segments" filter (Tools > Filters > Winning Numbers History > Segments)

If I can eliminate positional numbers down to 2 to 3 for each position 1, 2, and 3 I can wheel them to a manageable number of Pick 3 combinations.

Hope the video explains this a little more. Sorry I'm not a professional at producing videos.

I will post another video on how to create a new Pick 3 positional game. The example I will use is the Florida Pick 3 Midday and Evening games.
As I mentioned in the 1st video, Pennsylvania Pick 3 added an unannounced "bonus drawing" from time to time in late 2011.
I created 3 "positional" pick 3 games (Position 1, Position 2, and Position 3) that have both the drawing number and date. I will explain this detail in the next video.
The reason I created the "3" Florida Pick 3 positional games is the same reason I created the Pennsylvania Pick 3 games. You never know when they throw you a bonus drawing into the mix.
As far as I know you can not add unannounced bonus draws in EL5.

If you would like to create your own "positional" games I've uploaded a couple files you will need to use. I will explain these in the next video.

Link 1 - swipe file for the xml file (I will explain in the video)

http://www.box.com/s/8o60qyc3xsye9boedrxk

Link 2 - zip (rar) file that contains all the files to copy and paste into the c:\yourname\users\lotteries\ file. (I will explain this in the next video also)
You will need a rar file extracting program. You can download the 7-Zip for FREE from the following link:
http://www.7-zip.org/ Make sure you download the correct program for your type computer.

Here is the link to the rar file from box.net:
http://www.box.com/s/7r1kc8zr3yxxzdga2oq8

I would like to get some ideas on anyone who uses the "segments" for their lottery games if possible.

This is a download link to the Excel file used to create the Notepad text file to import the draws into the Florida positional games.

excellent videos, thank you very much for sharing!

just a few comments:
- i'll change the new lottery wizard to allow single number jackpot lotteries. then you won't have to edit lottery.xml file manually
- if you want to track bonus drawings then it's probably better to setup a new lottery with four draws per day: midday, midday-bonus, evening, evening-bonus. if there was no bonus draw then you'd just mark that draw date as 'no draw' when adding missing draws. it's probably more convenient than adding draw numbers in ms excel...

Pennsylvania Pick 3 Video - Segments Filter

Postby winsumloosesum » Thu Jan 05, 2012 1:12 am

I uploaded a new video explaining how to set the "Segments" filter for Pennsylvania Pick 3 positional play.
In the video I went in a time machine to capture the winning number from January 3, 2011 which was 8-5-1.
I clicked the "Summary History" tab and selected Segmentation then wrote down the 1st number of the first 2 segments Level 0, and Level 1
I came back and entered the winning number then hid all the numbers 8-5-1 in each of the 3 positions.
I went in the Tool > Filter > Segments filter then entered the Min/Max settings for level 0 and level 1. This gave me my winning numbers to play.
I did this for Position 1, Position2, and Position 3.

OK, I don't have a time machine but I wanted to show how to use the "Segments" filter.

Here is the video link:

If the video does not work using Mozilla Firefox try using Internet Explorer. If any of these 2 do not work try another browser.

Good Luck!!

Hi Steve,

I am trying to setup the game for the Ca Pick 3 but I am getting stuck importing my numbers. Whenever I paste the contents of the Rar file( the Winning number database) I get the Florida numbers. If I try to manualy import all El5 with import is like 6 draws( Same if I try to manualy import your Fl number).

Not sure what I am doing wrong. I changed the xml file and that seems to work just cant import my numbers?

Are you trying to set-up California Pick 3 as single position games?

I just set up your California Pick 3 combined draws as positional

Attached are the pick 3 files.

Also attached is the text file with the combined drawings. I did not use the entire California draw history.

You can use the FREE 7-ZIP program to unzip the "RAR" file attached.

Let me know if you have any problems.

Great. Just remember to add a new drawing to use the > Winning Numbers > edit (do not use the "add"). The add the drawing number, date, ticket number (actual drawing) for each position.

1. Create package. Package > Insert > Full Wheel
2. Tools > Filters > Winning Numbers History (scroll down the list) > Segments

I think you probably understand.
Nice work!!

Try to narrow down each Position (1, 2, 3) to 2 to 3 numbers (From the Package). Then do the same for Position 2 and Position 3. Then once you have all the numbers for each position just wheel them.
It may take you 2 to 3 Levels to narrow down each Position. All you need to do is have the correct zeroes and ones.

I'm trying to set up this Pick 3 that you described above for Ohio. What did I do wrong....after I did all of the steps that you described, then I click on Winning Numbers > Edit, I have two boxes for numbers -- instead of one.

when create new lottery, at step "Type" of lottery, select the first option "All numbers from the same pool".

and for "Number Pools", see attached image.
